Generac Next Gen Installation, Repair, & Servicing Near Ottawa

In late 2025 Generac launched its Next Gen line of standby generators for homes and businesses.  On a practical level, that means that if you want a brand-new Generac installed (a) straight from the factory and (b) by an authorized servicer, it’s got to be a NextGen and not one of the older Guardian models.  As an authorized Generac servicer and Ottawa’s trustiest generator specialists, we can install a NextGen unit for you.

Of course, the Guardian models aren’t obsolete.  On the contrary: if yours was installed properly and has been serviced regularly, it could last you for many more years, especially if it’s on the newer side.  Most of the generators we’ve ever installed, repaired, and serviced are Guardians.  To say they’re great is an understatement.

But technology slowly marches on.  Arguably the biggest difference between Generac’s Next Gen and Guardian lines is that Guardian models required a Wi-Fi connection for app control and built-in “smart” functionality, whereas Next Gen only needs cellular data.

Another big difference is that the maximum size of Next Gen is 28kW, whereas the largest size of Guardian was 26kW.  Generac also retired some unusual output sizes that nobody really needed and few opted for (like 13kW).

As you’d expect, there were other upgrades, too, and tons of arcane little differences.  Here’s Generac’s summary of what’s new in the Next Gen line, if you’re interested.
