Need to sell your old whole-home standby generator?  If you choose to have Powers Servicing install your new generator, the chances are good that we can pay you for the old one and take it off your hands.

 

A trade-in with us is a great option to consider if any of the following describes your situation:

• You want to upsize to a generator with more KWs.
• You’re downsizing to a smaller unit, because the old one was way more than you need.
• You’re replacing the current rig with one that you think will perform better.  
• You’re selling your home and the contract says you need to get the old generator out of here.
• The old generator has been fine, but a brand-new one will give you extra peace of mind.

 

Above all, you don’t want to pay someone to haul off a generator that you know still has a lot of value.  Although you may almost be at the point you’d pay us to take it off your hands, don’t worry – we’ll pay you plenty for your trade-in.

 

Could you sell the old unit on Craigslist or Facebook?  Possibly.  But even if you do manage to sell it, doing so would take time, you’ll probably have a few swings and misses, and you may get lowballed.  Also, the buyer may not be able to disconnect or haul off the old unit safely, and you’ll be out of backup power until you get the new generator installed.  By doing a trade-in with Powers Servicing, you get everything done in one whack.

What’s in it for us?  First and foremost, if you’re our customer (i.e. you’ve hired us for an installation), we want to make your life easier in every way we can.  Also, we often refurbish and sell generators to customers who want backup power they can trust from a rig that’s been in steady service for a while, but who don’t need it to be straight from the factory – and don’t want to pay a premium for mint condition.  It’s like when you buy or sell a used car (a wise choice, by the way).

 

Even if we choose not to refurbish an old trade-in, we always get some perfectly good and often hard-to-find spare parts from it.  Then we might use the rest of the unit for one of our mad-scientist experiments.

 

Of course, we can’t promise to take whatever you have, sight unseen.  We do want to see what kind of condition it’s in, though often we can tell that from a few photos and a little bit of info that you can send us.  So it’s a case-by-case deal, but we promise to make it simple and easy if we’re both interested in the trade-in.
