You don’t want a generator that’s too small to power everything your home needs, but you also don’t want one that’s way too big and unnecessarily expensive.  Ideally, your generator puts out slightly more kWs than you need, giving you a little wiggle room during an outage.  It’s just like picking the right shoe size.

So what size of generator do you need?  Generac has an excellent quiz that will give you a solid answer immediately.  You just answer a few questions about your specific situation, and it tells you what number of kilowatts is right for you.  The quiz is quick and simple.

Of course, if you contact us because you want a generator installed or even are considering a trade-in, we’ll tell you how much output you need.  Our recommendations will probably line up with what the Generac quiz tells you, but may vary up or down a few kilowatts, simply because we’ll see your setup in-person and will be able to factor in all of the particulars of your situation.
